Couple Promise Rings, when to present it, and how to pick the best one

Rings for engagement to seal a love and transform it into a romantic eternal promise. Guide to the ideal design and some suggestions on how to present it as a gift

Among the CoupleSets engagement rings that we can see in our virtual store windows Is there a ideal one? If we consider the romantic aspects of love maybe a wooden circle or the twist of rope could suffice. The most profound meaning of the vow is actually a promise that will last for eternity. It's at least we think so and believe.

The engagement ring is more dated than the white dress, that became popular in 1840, when Queen Victoria married Albert of Saxe Coburg-Gotha. It has a long and rich history that defies fashion and age. It's the appeal of the eternal that will make it an essential element to make the union of two people, an object which embodies the power of the momentous "yes" and the renewed commitment to love and fidelity.

But let's answer the main question first: when do you give an engagement ring for a gift? It definitely marks a significant passage, in the story of the couple there is an "before" and a "before" and an "after" since it is a sign of love that will never end, but more importantly an engagement ring, of a marriage. When we consider the manner of dress, this should be worn exactly one year prior to the date selected for the wedding. But as we all know, today the preparation process takes a long time, and this is why the tradition is no longer practiced and, consequently, it can be an entire year (and in some cases, even two) before the established date. Some are waiting for a special anniversary while others wait until Christmas or Valentine's Day, but for us, it's the time when we feel like living together one-on-one together, holding hands.

The meaning behind engagement rings: From the wedding band to the solitaire

The wedding ring originated in Egyptian culture. It was later carried on by the Romans. But it was the Archduke Maximilian I who added a beautiful diamond to the gold circle: it was in 1477, and the nobleman picked a ring made of gold with diamonds as a promise of marriage union with Mary of Burgundy.

In the 20th century, it became a tradition due to the mechanism of marketing. In 1938 De Beers began a massive advertising campaign with significant claims regarding the amount to be spent - in the papers of the time, we read "one month's salary" - and in 1948 the copywriter Frances Gerety wrote "A diamond is forever", and so the famous slogan aids in expanding the concept of the diamond engagement ring to symbolize a promise of enduring love.

The size of the ring

In a post from a while ago, we gave you all the details you need about measuring your ring even if you don't own an ring that you wear regularly. Goldsmiths remind us that there's no perfect ring size. A perfect ring would be slightly larger in the morning and will fit perfectly during lunchtime. It will be smaller in the evening. We can only suggest that you pay attention to the diameter and circumference and not confuse the data. This is why you'll find a guide on how you can take the ring sizes secretly.

Handmade engagement ring: where will you wear it?

Giving and receiving the ring is about establishing an emotional connection between two people. Imagine that during the French Revolution, it was customary to cut the ring in half, and then give the other half to the lover.

In Italy it is common to keep the engagement ring on your left finger. This is because an ancient belief says that a vein runs through the finger and reaches the heart. The poetic meaning is the result. However, this is not the situation in all countries: in Spain and Greece it is worn on the right hand.
